My dearest Mini Cooper S experts - another international one has popped up.

The red seats are not original (I'd guess) and I don't have the engine and chassis numbers yet but...observations?

Sorry, I'm a bit 'sceptical' on this one. It does have some hallmarks of being built up from 'bits' I could be wrong on that but;-

Passanger's door is a poor colour match with the body,
Carpet does not look like Westminster,
The trim in the dash / front pacel tray, shouldn't this be black?
Seats appear to be re-trimmed from Newtons Comercial (yes you did say something about this already),
Steering wheel of course,
It has seat belts (didn't the factory seat belt points come in much later?),
Very late model radiator,
6 blade (export) fan fitted,
Cylinder head could be a 12G940 - these should have the AEG163 or 12A185,
Rocker cover wrong colour and no labels,
Engine wrong colour,
Wrong coil,
Wrong pipe work for the Oil Pressure Gauge,
Wrong shape pipe work to the brake booster,
Fuse box cover missing,
No sound deadening material in the engine bay,
Coopers decal missing from the air filter box,
11th head bold replaced with a stud,
Possible wrong dipstick.

Apart from this stuff looks a nice car.

The other thing that puts me off is it appears to be at some kinda 'Mini Factory'.

and the holes in the panel above the sun visors.

its a-bits-a.
it wouldn't stop me from owning it, as long as the price is good.
still if your happy with a cooperS copy go for it.

Carpet colour is a bit full-on.

Hate to take someone home in it if they'd been on the turps!

Belt points were found on the early cars as well...I fitted a set of Kangol belts to a 997 Cooper.

Oh..and
Wrong Wingnuts,
Solenoid bracket
cowling screws,
brake MC,
No PCV (therefore wrong manifold too, note the pickup)

and

(takes cover)

wrong hose clamps :P

Apart from the photos - whats it proported to be ??????

What engine

what brakes

I am a bit inclined to say a bitza as well but if its british they had a hard life rust wise and to restore it may well have meant re-shelling which is apparently okay in the UK.

I don't know anything more than the pictures at this stage. As soon as more details come through I'll let you know.

:?: Where is the radiator cowl where the english body plate is attached?

To be honest you are dacing with the devil with this one. Is the car in Japan? Only the Jap's or my grandparents could wrap an interior in plastic like that! :P

It looks like a english car look at roof drains (slots) it also has black plastic catches on sliding windows plus in front of door handles it has chrome safety boss (jan66) instead of our black plastic ones front panel changed mid 64 I'd say it could be 997/998 with all sorts of bits put on it
