Post subject: | Aussie Floor Panels + fixing a crack |
Is it possible to get Aussie style Floor Panels (with the hose chanel) anywhere, or are we stuck with the ones without them? Also see pic below of a crack in the tunnel. I was thinking of welding it up again and then welding a gusset accross it to improve strength and try to prevent it from happening again. Any thoughts about this or other ideas? ![]() Cheers, Dicko |

I would clean all the paint off and weld the crack up. I've found that once welded properly, cracks don't seem to recur. As for the Oz `hydro onwards' floor panels, good luck finding any. Most people either cut a floor section out of a donor, or modify a Pommy aftermarket repair panel. |

Huddersfield UK sell the floor pans with the square section as opposed to the oval shape you get from most of the other mini spares places. It won't have the raised bit through the middle but might be the closest you can get new. What is the raised bit for? Do the hydro pipes run through it? |

All Oz Minis 67 on had a channel in there, each side. Originally it carried the hydro pipes, brake line, fuel line and battery cable. When hydro finished, they kept this floor panel pressing until the end of production. You can get Mk1 UK floor repair panels (here too, see Karcraft etc) but they don't have this pressing. And the ribs are different spacing, similar to our 61-66 cars. |
