G'day guys,

Any clues what this is out of? I'm guessing late moke or LS?

It has a pollution head, but that could have been changed as we all know...

cheers

Cam

G'day all, I am also trying to find out what a couple of engine no's mean, i just printed that list off, is it inacurate, worth keeping or not, if so where is the best place to look to find out what engines i have got? The 2 blocks that i'm trying to work out have prefix no's -1009/ ----.
1015/----. Colin.

I reckon Morris 1100 (`coz he has more info than me or anybody) should compile a proper list and bung it in the `how-to' forum.

What said bibles do you blokes use to find out this imformation? I have a couple of books that gives you some imformation but when i started writing down some no;s the other day of some motors and heads and other bits and pieces that i brought a while back i could only reference some of them.

BMC & Leyland's original parts books are probably the most reliable.
However even the proper Mini K book PUB1038 (final) has an error or two.
eg. it says the body number prefix is YMG2S4.
It is actually YG2S4 (the factory dropped the M in 1969).

Similarly, this book lists an Austin version (maybe for NZ?) with prefix YAG2S4.

Also, nearly every list I have seen says the prefix for the `mk2' Minimatic is YMA2S4 (the Minis Plus list says Y2MA2S4, maybe a typo) which is wrong.
It is YA2S5, I know because I've owned 2 of em.

Colin.

The best place to find out this info is right here.

1009 is an 1098cc motor from about 1974. I don't know if it was a Mini or Moke or Mini Van motor. I don't have that info. (sorry!)
1015 is an 1098cc motor out of either a Mini or Mini Van from the first half of 1975. (I think the Moke had a 1016 at that time)

If I could guarantee every number was correct I would do it but I am still missing a little info.
When I get it 100% I will do it.

Looks like we will never get the list if we play by those rules as not even God or who ever you believe in can be 100% sure of the workings of BMC/Leylands fabulous record keeping :P
