Just interested if New Zealand Minis sold at dealership or Exported have there ADR tag still on the car or what. What was the ADR tag replaced with. I know of other makes of cars in the 70's era, that had there ADR tag removed in New Zealand because ADR - Australia Design Rules did not apply to New Zealand. Would like to here about your car or any official literature to back up these claims of ADR tag/s being removed by NZ dealerships or RTA. On Trade Me a while ago there was a Clubman GT that did not have its tag, not sure if it was lost or removed by NZ authorities when arriving in country. Just to confirm, I'm interested in the policy back then not todays policy.

Hi I have never seen any ADR tags on OZ Minis in NZ. I have owned a couple and used to live in OZ in 2000.

I would have thought the tag would only need to be added if the car was being registered in OZ.

Do you have a pic of the Tag.

I will do some digging about to see what I can find out.

As far as I know the NZ cars were not fitted with Australian ADR compliance plates. The Australian compliance plates would never have been fitted to an export car and a special ID plate would have been fitted instead.

Here is a photo of a plate fitted to an Aussie Marina for the NZ market, I assume the Minis would have had similar...

Excellent photo of the NZ ID plate. I don't have any photos of Aussie ADR plates only ID plates - pre ADR. I'm sure someone would have a photo of a Mini ADR plate for you to check out. Anymore references would be great, please keep them coming.
Big Thanks

This is what i have found out

Yes they assembled Mini Deluxes, Mini K's and maybe the Aussie Clubman 1100 here. The deluxes had a special chassis prefix but the later ones were the same as Aussie I think. Never made the Cooper S or GT here.

NZ ones have NZ glass - but otherwise seem identical. Maybe the upholstery was locally made in some?

Do you know of any Cooper s or GT's that were exported from Oz, that do not have ADR and have a special id plate similar to the one in Morris 1100 photo?

New cars in the day that were exported seem to be missing this tag. Some that were exported later in live still may have it. Would be interesting to know how many new exports in the NZ car clubs still have the ADR plate.

My GT's (3) all have the ADR tag fitted. My Oz Clubbie 1100 has been re-registered at some point, but no ADR tag, although it has the holes where it would have been fitted. The upholstery is definitely Aussie, not local content. I understand that all Aussie minis were imported built up, not assembled here, leading me to believe that all should have had the ADR tag fitted.

Hi Guys,
I am quite certain all Mini's and derivatives assembled here in NZ were UK built CKD units. Oz cars came in assembled.

Regards
Al
