Hey guys

Last night I was going across the bridge in the furthest left lane (the single lane diverting down to the Cahill Expressway) and it appears they are doing some sort of maintenance.
They have laid down two plates about 30m apart that would be about 5cm high and only about 70cm wide.
If you are sitting on rubber cones and doing anything close to the speed limit expect to take air...

I went over this in my Charade 3 days ago and advise people to proceed with caution. These plates are HIGH and solid and would probably rip off a Mini wheel or gearbox... :cry:

There's only one council I know of who would put steel plate down as a quasi-permanent repair on a main arterial.. :? :roll:

Pretty hair raising halfway through a corner on a motorbike...

What would be the reason for putting a steel plate on the road surface?

They cover up holes with steel plate. They're supposed to then paint them with a high grip paint, but that doesnt always happen,or it wears off with the sheer volume of traffic going over them.

At least half of all the major roads in Sydney have steel paltes on them somwhere.

But I went over this one today in a work ute, lets just say that im very glad it was a work car and not mine.

Probably doesnt help that I live by the saying "Nothing is tougher or faster than a pussers car."

that would be sooo slippery on a bike, even the man holes are scary when they find your tire on the bike in the wet.

I just destroyed a rental driving hard through the dirt roads of the Barossa....

AWESOME roads (for a rally car) but not so forgiving (to a rental car)
