Yep...........another "Scarlet O'Hara" joined the clan the other day. Initially bought it to put the motor into Dylans car but we've had a bit of a discussion about things - here's what the situation is.

Daughter - Erin - (became ausmini member today) wants the car. Currently on L plates but has not yet had a single lesson.

Son - Dylan - already owns a clubman but the engine needs a rebuild.

Bought home the new "Scarlet" which is in need of a little TLC - previous owner stripped the interior, took off the doors and stripped everything out of them, took out all the windows, carpet, seats, in fact,if it had nuts bolts or screws, off it came. HOWEVER, the motor runs like a dream, tyres have about 95%tread, also came with a set of Contessa mags PLUS nuts and near new Falken tyres, ( I'm already way out in front on the deal just with them). Erin and I started to put things back together today, give things a bit of a clean and it's starting to look quite ok. Now, which way do I go - swap the engines over so that Dylans Clubby is back on the road straight away or push on with the restore and see how the finished job measures up. Should only take a week or two at the most. Could then just put the rego on Dylans car onto the new one and swap it back after I've rebuilt his engine in ??? months time. Forgot to say that the only thing missing as far as I can tell, is the roof lining - where do I go for that????

What do you reckon guys???

Cheers

id swap engines over and have 1 mini running and on the rd. Also make sure that the engine you will put in is not older then the car it is going in.

Now while you have one mini to drive and teach the youngin to drive the other can be restored and maybe a secondhand running engine found or rebuild the stuffed one?

I agree with 13sec... swap the engines and when you've finished rebuilding Dylan's old one swap them back. Erin can be taught in any mini as long as she gets Scarlet in the end.

Erin took a few pics of Sherman the other day - they're on my photobucket. Looks pretty rough in the daylight :( so we'll see what it's like in a few weeks. :)

Check out the tyres - 2nd picture - all 4 and the spare are as good!!!! Also the Contessa mags with Falken tyres have heaps of tread on 'em.

Cheers and beers

I need some window rubber and stuff folks for Sherman. Have a look at the "wanted" section for the list and hopefully some-one can help me out :)

Totally agree with both Marvin and 13sec.

Much easier to swap engines than restore the car. As for swapping rego the way you describe it's not as easy as you think - at least here in NSW. I can't imagine vicroads being that much easier to deal with than the dreaded RTA!

Comments pretty much as per the others.

Yer........that swapping the rego I'm talkin' about would be a bit of a "dodgy brothers" for a week or two.
