Well all I can tell is it's a four cylinder. Have you got any more details like cc, power, gear box etc etc

From the look of those inlet runners, I'd guess it's light and economical rather than powerful Maybe 1.0L ? Can't quite make out the lettering on the valve cover. |

Interesting, I did read ages ago about new engines with regards to Fijian assembled Mokes. They look small and economical to me but relatively modern. Notice the coilpack ignition. |

Cheers, That was my first thought too , but then I wondered if it is a typical Chinese type product where it is a copy of some other engines design . I wonder if it is a copy from something we already have (Suzuki or Daihatsu etc) and the engine could be sourced locally or through a Jap importer and you could then use the Chinese subframe and driveshafts (possibly even gearbox) . Be interesting to see the full details of the subframe etc and see if it could be used as an easier step for an engine conversion . I assume the subframe would need engineering as any engine conversions subframe would but if it passes easily then it's a lot of work saved . |

I have been looking into it a bit. Apparently, the whole moke project in China is being run/funded any an Aussie and an American and they are trying to get it imported and complied. Latest news I can find is that it is a three cylinder fuel injected 900 and something cc engine? Apparently, the new Moke body is much heavier than the original as thicker steel is used with less pressings to add rigidity. Mind you everything I buy that is steel from Supacrap seems to bust. |

It seems a lot of trouble and expense for not a lot of return (on an old mini however, but they would definitely suit a re-creation of the moke. I seriously can't see them being allowed to be reintroduced (but on that same line of thought, they let Harley Davidsons on the road), so what is the main market for these cars? Little island countries for resort cars? |

I did hear that it was 'based' on a 997 Diahatsu motor, 3 cyl I think. There are a few companys in China claiming to be making mokes, but they are scammers just trying to get some money out of anyone who's willing. It is interesting as to why they would even contemplate building Mokes as the world is a lot stricter iwth safety than it was 40 years ago. Trying to get one registered in Australia is a bit of a grey area but I know of 2 that have done it without to much hassle, technical it is illegal as you are rebirthing an old car. |
