Hi all, I'm not sure if its called the banjo pipe oil line or not, but its the pipe going from the block to the oil filter housing. It is leaking. Is this common. Is it easy enough to just undo the big bolt? what keeps it sealed etc Basically what I want to know is: - how does this pipe connect? how does it work? - Why might it be leaking? - What do i need to do to fix it? Thanks in advance |

There should be copper washers either side ofthe banjo bolt. There copper so they compress and deform into the surface of the bolt. Try torquing yours up first though, might be an easy fix. Not sure on the settings though, I'm sure the doc knows. |

As blue_deluxe said its just copper washers. 1 between the bolt and the pipe, 1 between the pipe and the block. Just try nipping it up a little bit tighter first. If it still leaks just take the bolt out and replace the 2 washers and reassemble. A socket is more desirable then a spanner for this job, i think its 15/16" maybe, best to check though. Unless you mean its the connection onto the fitler housing, in which case it is just flared piping etc. Just try nipping that up too. |

Thanks guys, thats what I was thinking, just wasn't sure. I will have to find my big sockets. I think they are still in a box at my folks place. |

yep i also experienced this also, one on each side. I think if you have an extra sump plug you can get one from their also |

PIRTEK hydraulic return line hose- 1x `MPH-08' (35 bar, 500psi)1/2” Hose, 340mm long 2x `BF1-0808P' Fitting, push-on barb type ½” BSPP female The hose looks similar to a Cooper S oil cooler hose when assembled. The nipples I used: a 1/2 x 3/8 BSP (the 3/8BSP end I recut to 5/8"-18 UNF) for the block, and a 1/2 x 1/4 BSP for the filter. I now use brass fittings from Bunnings, perfectly adequate for 100psi or so. But you can buy the proper steel Cooper S block and filter 1/2 BSP fittings from Mini shops. I have another hose (similar but with a 45° end fitting) attached to an S oil cooler, if doing a track day it takes me about 15 mins to bung the cooler in. |

I nipped it up a little bit this afternoon. It looks as though it has fixed it. I will take it for a good run tomorrow and hopefully all is good. |
