Gday, my first question, please be gentle. On my 850, the body type on the complience plate is YKA2S1, on a list on the web this should be a Cooper body. The engine number on the complience plate says it is an 850, does anybody know what this means. Also do the 850's have the vehicle identification number on the panel near the radiator, it has been cut off my car. There is a number stamped on the firewall near the complience plate, is this the VIN?? Steve. |

the number stamped on the firewall is the body number, it should match what's on the compliance plate, later cars had the number on the radiator shroud, me thinks. |

The number on the firewall is the car number (they had not invented VIN numbers yet) This number should match the number on the identification plate. (not a compliance plate because they had not been invented yet either!) |

Thanks for the replies, i had hoped that was the case with the VIN, i shouldn't have any trouble registering it then. I was worried because i didn't have any papers for it and the radiator shroud had been removed, bodgy job though. Thanks again. Steve. |
