1972 or 1978 Compliance Plate?

Em...ah...I have a friend that is re-building a Clubman. 8)

It's a bitsa with no historic value.

If my friend :roll: has a choice of fitting a 1972 or 1978 Compliance Plate prior to registration, which should he fit.

One thing to think about, CAMS has an arbitrary cut-off of 31 Dec 1972 between classes of touring cars (but KAD rear disks may cancel an eligability to this class anyway!).

Which year should be fitted and why?

Why not leave them both off, they are not a requirement for registration if the car was registered previously.

Otherwise, I would fit whichever plate matches the numbers on the rad shroud. :wink:

1. Not currently registered
2. No previous rego papers
3. Both are different to radiator number

Read "Bitsa" and "Rebuild".

They will go by the original number on the body for rego. I think fitting either of these plates will give you a problem, as their numbers don't match it.

I am not sure if You Know this or Not, But It is not hard to tell a 1972 shell from a 1978 shell
And as previously advised I would advise you not to fit a plate that does not belong to the Car

in most states if its pre 72 it doesnt require a compliance plate, i told qld rego that my 73 was a 71 because it didnt have a compliance plate on it.

It's illegal to remove or change a compliance plate from a car that was put there from a governing body!
