All set to put the Valves back in the head and bolt it all back together and I can't find the spring retainers or colletts.. It's doing my freakin head in. Just turned over the whole shed looking for them and nothing... Oh well back out there again to look... Maybe having a burbon or two will clear my thoughts...

I only know that it pays to look up in high places in my garage, just above eye level is a common spot for items I want to have instant access to when I need them. "Instant" invariably being after an hour of looking for the said infallible hiding spot.

ring your parts supplier in the morning, order some, then go back into the garage and they'll be right in front of you

It reminds me of a time when my brother was rebuilding the head off his moke on the kitchen bench. He compressed a valve spring with a socket and then used a magnet to draw the collet away from the valve stem  ....I think the missing collets ended up somewhere in the ceiling space! Mum never said a word...she was good like that! :D

Look around with a torch. Even with the lights on. It tends to focus your attention.

Before anyone says anything funny in reply:

1. No I haven't been drinking :?
2. I'm not irish and been drinking 8)
3. It's not April 1.

Good luck

Don't worry they'll be in a 'safe place'. I put stuff there all the time and it usually takes hours to find them...

Good luck, I hope yours is a small shed.
