Folks,
What would be considered ideal fuel pressure for a HIF carby?

We're just now trying to get my dad's restoration car running, and having difficulty. I'm wondering if the 6psi provided by the pump is flooding the poor HIF?

Our workshop manual indicates 2-3psi for a HS carby; would the HIF handle more?

i've seen them work with both Facet 2.5-3 Psi or 4.5-5 Psi versions, not sure with 6 psi , maybe you can give a try.

I'd say 6 psi is too high, even 4.5 - 5 is on the high side. 3 - 3.5 psi is optimal.

Thanks for the replies. This confirms what I suspected, but begs another question - with a HIF carby, does a flooding fuel bowl supply oodles of fuel direct to the manifold, unlike a HS carby, which spills all over the exhaust and the ground? Might explain the difficulty in starting...

My Hif44 has an overflow outlet on the same side that the fuel line attaches. This should be plumbed away from the exhaust manifold with a piece of fuel line. Probably good to set it up to avoid running down the paintwork too if you have a nice engine bay.

It should rarely overflow if it's set up properly.
