Say you had a mate who was off to Seattle to buy a BIG aeroplane and was bring it back to Brisbane ..... empty....

Say that plane has about 16 tonnes of cargo capacity....

Say your mate was willing to receive FedEx parcels at his hotel and put them in the plane for the trip home.....

What mini bits (or others) would you buy in the USA and get brought home for the cost of a few beers?....

I find myself in this situation.

I'm thinking items too bulky or expensive to post but still under the $1000 GST & Duty threshold. Only problem is, I can't think of what I need.

Suggestions?? 8)

(it doesn't matter if I miss this opportunity, it will reoccur about another 12 times in the next 18 months)

i would be getting a $635 one way ticket to the USA and have a holiday buy bits like seats and bolt them in the plane, that way no GST and get lots of other stuff..

Unless it's a government job, why would you bring it back empty? Car importers would bite his arm off to fly cars back at say $1.5k a car. Bring ten cars, and that's a good chunk of the fuel costs home covered.

Seattle is not far from LA, there's any number of cars you could buy there cheap, bring back and sell for double or more. Sixties mustangs, caamaros, firebirds, whatever. Heck, I'd get a genuine VW Karmann Cabrio or Karmann Ghia. They're only US $2500-3500 for one needing some work and easy $7-10K here.

Guys, it's not a cargo plane, it's a passenger plane. The luggage space will be empty because there won't be any passengers. Sorry, no whole cars!

no hookers either!

I've got disc brakes and just had gastro so taco bell's out!

Tyres, now that's an idea. Maybe one of those rear cut-down subframes... Maybe flares...

The plane's a red 737. They're on lease so new ones come here regularly and the old ones go back to get re-painted and then used by some airline dodgier than our locals.
