Hey All, I am wanting to install a rover wiper motor into my clubman. I hve spent time looking into this and trying to work out which clubman wires go to the rover motor but I am a bit dense. Currently it has a two speed wiper motor with the three screw base. I am swapping this for a rover model with the strap to hold it down. I have purchased the loom extension on minispares. The Rover loom has: Red Green trace Green solid Brown Green trace black and Blue Green. The clubbie has (refer to picture) A = Red And Green Trace B = Blue and green trace C = Green D = Black and Green Trace. Note, These Wiper Motors Must Have an earth wire from Wiper Motor To Body. What I am wanting to know is where the clubman wires should plug into on the rover wiper motor. Do I need a rover steering column (the arms) or can my two speed switch handle this as job? Hey Guys, I think I have found info on the wiper motor wires for a rover wiper motor. Does anyone know what the different wires for the clubman motor actually do. This is for a two speed parking wiper motor out of a clubman. Cheers David |

I found a cheap rover column with all the goodies that I might just chuck in and wire up. This way I can follow the diagram a rover to wire this up and I will get the added bonus of stalks for lights and wipers. I also have no horn as the stalk horn on the clubbie is broken so will need replacing. Has anyone done this before here? Is it easy or hard? Am I on crack. D |

The more mods you do at once, the harder it gets... The clubman wiring for the wiper goes : - green is accessory power (+12V while ign on) - black will be earth/ground - red/green is high speed I think - the remaining wire will be the other speed Not sure how this maps to a Rover wiper cheers Jacob |

The 2 motors work differently. The Oz made (round) 1 & 2 speed motors have dynamic braking when switched off, I believe the Rover ones don't (if same as previous UK ones). So, the switches may be different internally, you need a pinout diagram for each to check. If you get things wired wrong, it's easy to let the Lucas smoke out of the wires... |

Hey Doc and Vulcanbb18, So clubman is - green is accessory power (+12V while ign on) - black will be earth/ground - red/green is high speed I think - the remaining wire will be the other speed And rover seems to be: Red Green Trace=Low speed feed in Blue Green Trace=High Speed feed in Black=Earth Brown Green Trace=Park feed in Green=Permanent Maybe I can just connect up low speed, high speed, earth and permanent feed. Won't worry about the park or intermittent and wil get this thing going so I can take it for a spin. Is that crazy or could that work? Cheers DC |

The earth wire on a Clubby switch is part of the dynamic braking circuit, when you switch off and the wipers are almost parked, a brush on the slip ring (under motor) shorts the motor's windings to earth via that wire. I would remove it before playing with the Rover motor.. you are liable to short something out. There is a good thread somewhere in here about 2 speed Clubby motor wiring, with switch diagrams- I'll try and find it. Hi doc, That thread is a good one. I had skimmed it before but hadn't seen the clubbie switch diagram. That us a keeper. Just read it all and feel wiser Can you explain to us playing at home how you setup your bench test? Do you use a car battery etc? No battery needed, I use my 10A battery charger as a power supply. Otherwise, just use jumper leads off your car battery.

I've got Rover stalks powering a clubby motor mounted in my Moke. It was a pig to get working. Park is not working, but I gave up on that one. If you use a Rover column and motor and wire it as per rover diagrams you should be okay. It's only when you mix and match that you run into trouble. Cheers, |

Hey Guys, Doc, I have one of those and will give that a burl on the weekend. I agree with you Bnicho. The rover column is a good idea. I have found a whole column, stalks, ignition barrell and plastic shroud for 250. I think that is pretty good value if you ask me. If it all works that is
