that's wierd.... put a flat screwdriver behind the head and lever it against the gearbox casing as you undo it - basically to put outward pressure on the bolt while it's undoing |

You need a fork like device to lever a little outward force for under the bolt bolt head while you turn it. Hopefully it will re engage a thread and keep coming. A grinder disc tightening tool would be along the lines of something I might try first up before I got serious. |

Gadgets, You have stripped the thread in the gearboxl. You will need a helicoil in the gearbox. The sump plug will be the least of your worries!!!! To get the plug out lever behind the hex of the plug as you turn it as the others have said.. Steve |

You would crack the ally gearbox case before you snapped the bolt in two. |

You can do it yourself but you have to ensure you're tapping the hole staight and square to the sealing face for the washer otherwise it'll leak. |

one that big is a workshop job - the kit to do it would cost a fortune. Any of the mini shops would be very experienced with doing them |

Off the top of my head (or off my head?) they are 5/8" UNC. One of the mini suppliers had a tapered 'repair' sump plug kit available. |
