Post subject:  rear wheel hub

gday everyone!

so i spent 3 hrs yesterday trying to remove the large nut (im not sure what it is called) holding the wheel hub to the rear axle! in the end, i had to cut the nut in half !!!!!!

so i was wondering if anyone knew what this nut was called, and if anyone knows where i can get a spare from?? i had a quick look on the minisport website, and only found them for disk brakes

cheers!!!

Which side was it, driver's or passenger's? The passenger side is a left-hand thread, so if you were trying to undo it anti-clockwise, you were actually tightening it ;)

It's called a 'castellated nut', but you're best off trying to get one from a Mini specialist, especially if it's the passenger-side one. If you do find one at a bolt supply place, often the slots for the split pin are too shallow.

Is one side left hand thread?

Edit: to slow...

I'm sure every mini specialist will have one lying around. Phone them up and talk to them as its not something you would commonly list on the net.
