Been watching bit of top gear got me thinking bout a few things.

What are some really quick ... Even pretty impressive mini 0-60 kph times?

Mini motors or conversions. Pics would b cool.

My 850 can get to 60k's in under 25sec on a good day.
Now that's quick! :P

In my Morris 850 I can do 0-100 in under 12 seconds (self timed over 3 runs). The car dose have an engine transplant to.

The engine was taken out of a Jap half cut, 1990 Rover cooper 1275 :lol:

Yeh I was talking bout factory minis even if they've had starlet, Honda or conversions like Matt Reads moke.

Dont have accurate numbers on 0-100

but will do 0-170 in 13.5sec :D

Im sure there may be one or two half decent numbers, but most will be painfully slow. Probably a Hyundai Getz would be quicker?

The 0-60 km/h times aren't too bad - my 60ci (998) mini will beat a 225ci valiant AP5 to 60.

But 60 mph, well, it's hard to find a straight bit of road long enough for me to find out how long it takes...

I have yet to try out my mates (work) "drift box" which measures 0-100, 1/4 mile, cornering & braking Gs etc, but to give you some indication head to head with a 06 BA FPV pursuit my starlet mini was slightly faster (his front bumper was at my rear bumper) and they quote the Ford as 0-100 in 6 seconds.

Traction is the main issue with quick mini standing start acceleration tests. :wink:

Hopefully, I can get a more accurate measurement (with the current mods) soon though.

Thats rather ambitious. I'm not saying it's impossible, but are there any fwd cars that can do the 0-100km/h in under 4 sec that are street legal?? Perhaps an awd conversion while you're at it will help you get there and be unique.

I've been for a ride in bigbad and while damn quick, traction is a huge issue as well as torque steer.

I wish you luck, but think you will struggle to get it that quick with a front drive road mini. As I said before, traction is a big problem. I have a fairly std 4efte conversion and have heaps of trouble putting the power down from a standing start (12x5 superlights with 165/12R 60 yoko A539)

The most tyre grip you can get on a sensible road mini would be 195/13 semi slicks. Josh had 175/13 semis on his 4efte mini, so maybe he could tell you how much more grip it gave the car, but I still think you would have to be careful with throttle application to prevent excessive wheel spin.
You also have to fight the physics weight transfer to keep the front tyres pushed into the ground.

Just comparing with experiences of my car (which as said, is far from crazy) I think you would have to do a fair bit of mod work to get enough rubber under the front of the car (and add a heap of lightness :wink: ) to get as quick as you want.
(plus at least one very quick gear change)

But good luck, either way you should have one hell of an entertaining car. 8) :D

I agree with the others if you're talking about 0-100kph, if it's a road car and you want it to go around corners as well there is little chance of achieving those numbers for all the reasons stated.

I've gone down to 165/70R10's A032R's and to be honest it feels like the car has more grip now than it did on the 13's and it's handles a shed load better around corners and is easier to keep in a straight line, i'm not fighting the steering wheel nearly as much.

That's my personal experience though your mileage may differ..

I am aiming for 0-100 km/hr. I'm aiming high so even I don't make it I'll still have interesting results.
I had thought about a 4wd system for it, but if have to get rid of the LSD and 6 speed gearbox I've got.
I can't wait to get it all going then actually have a crack at it.

And yes everyone in the uni Motorsport team thinks I'm mad.
