Hello,

I was wondering if anybody has any info on this particular grind.

I was after the timing numbers. Their website says 275 degrees intake and 284 exhaust... and states the lift and everything else.. but they don't provide any timing numbers.

I have emailed them twice, and the guy replying seems to be happy to sell them, but not so interested in answering questions.

I understand that its ""basically"" an older version of the APT VP3, but the duration and lift numbers differ... and just because it has "similar" duration it doesn't mean it will be anything like the VP3.

Any more info would be appreciated

Thanks :)

Hi Phat,
I ran one of these for 45,000 miles then 3 of the lobes wore off it..
The lobes are a bit pointy for long life...
Not a bad cam, but I got more HP with an RE13, and better torque too.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for replying, I remember you mentioning a while ago that you used this cam once before. I'm a bit sus on the oil, the followers or the hardness (or lack of hardness) in the lobes.... they shouldn't be rubbing themselves down on the followers... infact they shouldn't be rubbing on the followers at all.

Its a pain in the back side isn't it when you fork out cash for something and it doesn't last hey :?

You don't remember what the numbers were though do you?

Thanks :)

PK,
From my maintenance log:
OCT '97 FITTED CAMTECH `VP3' (aka 619) CAMSHAFT & NEW FOLLOWERS, 10deg CAM KEY.

From my Camtech hard copy sheet of that vintage, the 619 has an LCA of 106°.
I would have timed it in at 106°ATDC (I have a belt drive kit), but with a duplex chain I would have gone for 104°, to allow for some chain stretch.

Hope this helps..

Doc you are a champion thank you very much for digging that up. That's all that I was after, I had everything else but those numbers :)

Jeeez, you'd think that the guys a camtech could have just looked that up and sent it, but oh well.

Thanks very much, and thank you too 92.

Have a good one guys :)
