Just curious what oil pressure at idle should roughly be ? The engine is a mild 1275 webber and cam and done around 5000klms..... Thanks PG |

when hot... 50 is good, 25 isn't good, 0 is bad |

Preferably not zero ![]() With my limited knowledge I would guess not < 25psi with oil in good condition and at normal operating temp. Obviously there are factors like viscosity and how hard the engine has been working, existence of oil cooler etc. |

Depends a bit on oil viscosity and what the engine was built for, but at idle (~900 rpm) anything over 15 psi is OK. |

New 25w50 Castrol Edge... It appears my guage is very sensitive compaired to my race cars engine and guage...... Its moving around alot with engine revs, as expected but I didnt think it would move as it does... Thanks |

yopu could take the relief valve out and have a look - might be some gunk in it, or badly scored |

I actually replaced it and the spring I "thought" I had an oil pressure issue so replaced it as a matter of caution.... |

What oil pressure are you getting i) at idle and ii) when running? |

Idle around 20-30, then running at say 100 kph 80psi.... obviously depends on engine rpm..... So it appears to be OK.... |

So it appears to be OK.... Sounds fine to me, perhaps a little on the high end when running though, leads to high oil temps. |

Could be worth checking the filter at the back of the gauge on both cars. See my post... http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... gage+guage |
