Hey All...

Got some more questions for you (you've all been a great help so far!)

I need to replace the air filter in my clubbie (stock 998), atm it has the stock standard paper filter (1 1/2" carby) just want to know if its worth getting a K&N Cleanable Filter and keep the stock housing? (are they worth the price hike)

I've also seen pancake filters and ramflo filters on the minisport website? should I be getting one of them instead? do they just replace the existing filter? or do i need some kind of adaptor?

I also need a new oil filter.... are the "HardDriver" filters worth the extra expense over the standard filters?

Thanks Heaps

Ok,

1) I have K&N pancake filters on my car and love them. Personally I would go a pancake filter before putting a K&N element in the stock housing. It is up to you but for a engine that is otherwise totally stock, I'd stick with the paper element.

2) Pancake filters replace the standard filter housing. Have a look at Hanra's post of his car. You can clearly see how pancake filters attach. http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29758. You don't need an adaptor, the mounting plate just screws directly to the mouth of the carb.

Here is a pic of my air filters: Image

3) My car has only ever used standard oil filters changed regularly (I do oil & filter changes every 1,000 miles). If buying an expensive oil filter makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside feel free to use it. I've never had any problems with my $8 oil filters. The engine in my car was last rebuilt in 1988, it spent 5 years off the road but other than that, has been an everyday driver - so it has done a few miles!

while I like the original look of the air filter and casing as they came out I do like the different option we have for Air Filters today . My self the 998/1098 I have ready to go into the Van will have a Ramflo on it and my wifes has a Piper X Filter. Its just a matter of getting one that mates with the stud pattern to the carb.
The 2 difference between paper and foam are. Paper is more restrictive so a foam filter will let more air in.
Paper..well it can not be cleaned where a Foam filter can

Oil Filter try your local AutoPro, Supercheap, etc...Brand, Cooper Model # WZ418 8)
