Ok, so I've heard the bad news, from the man himself. NAV is coming off the road again, only just 6 months after being on the road. Come on everyone, Nav shouldn't come off the road, his barely just gotten on it ![]() ![]() Vote Yes to keep Nav on the road ![]() |

Isn't he taking it of the road to fix the subframe etc? In which case yes he should take it off! |

the subframe isan't something that you need to take the car off the road for and take rego off, and have to pay more money to get it back on the road later, we have a group of 4 people and growing willing to help him change it, fix other problems, at a garage day. A broken subframe ain't that hard to sort out.. I know Nav will take the car off the road, no matter what, as we have talked about it, but i just wanted to see wat the results would be from others. |

Ah i did not realise he was de-registering it. I assumed taking it off the road would be putting it aside till fixed. |

Hey it's nearly 12months back on the road actually Lockie. Rego runs out in 2 months I appreciate the support guys but it's for the greater good atm. And I know all mini's are in a state of perpetual repair. but there are a few things that need tending to. Individually each item isn't much $ on it's own, but as they all seem to be arriving at the same time now I just dont have the spare $$ to take care of them now before they become a much bigger problem and potentially cause an accident. For me to be satisfied that NAV is back up to speed & safe it needs. Minimum: Replace Subframe. and replace any unseen damage from that incident Replace front shocks as the left front is blown and useless. Replace/rebuild steering rack (excessive play). Replace all front wheel cylinders as they are all leaking as well as liners. Ideally: Repair/rebuild gearbox as it's getting very difficult to change gears and there is alot of slop in the driveline. Fix the rust that is appearing while it's this >...< big instead of this >.............................< big Would be nice: Scrap drums up front and go discs, Properly setup suspension geometry camber castor front & rear. Build up nice a 1100 to replace the trusty but tiring 998 Nice double negative poll btw |

I'd say do whatever makes you happy. It's not like it's going to the scrapyard. Just do whatever you have to do to get it safe and sound. The road will still be there when it's ready! |

I was in a very similar place with my deluxe, it was a daily, got a few problems and i didnt have the time or the cash to fix it properly. And my heart wasnt in it so i was going nowhere from the start. I say hand the rego in, get somewhere to keep it for a while and save some funds so when it does all get fixed its with discs and new suspension all round, rather than patching it up slowly. Well all still be keen to give you a hand then to get it on the road the second time. |

Hay nav I just replaced my front drums with disks……………you can have the slave cylinders and brake shoes if you want them. The whole brake system was replaced by the previous owner just before I bought the car and I have done bugger all k’s on them. I’m not going to be using them again…….so they can go to a good home, rather than rust in my shed. If you de-rego the car your up for a road worthy and plates………..my sister a very long long time ago let her rego run out for six months………(because she was driving the new boyfriends car)……….. they split up six months later and she just told main roads that she had been backpacking around England. They let her rego the car and pay a late fee………….I would pay a visit to main roads and ask. |
