Hi Guys

I restored my clubman s a while back but put a 1100 in and never used the 998 engine. now my 1100 is out of order i was wondering if you guys could tell me about the clubman s 998 engine?

also it has a 1 1/5 inch su on it with a ADF needle in it which when tested on the 1100 supplied to much fuel, so i also need to know what needle to use in the carby?

Cheers

The ADF needle with a Red Spring is the correct one for the pollution model 998. Non-pollution motors had an ABX needle again with a Red spring.

These were on an 1 1/2" SU.

ok thats great then. i was thinking about taking the pollution system off, is there any design differences between the 998 non pollution system and 998 with, in terms of engine design?

The earlier 998s (used in Mini Deluxe and Moke) only had a 1-1/4" carby. Yours has a 1-1/2", and it's worth a couple of HP.
Otherwise not much difference- the valve sizes in the head are the same.
