Post subject:  front and rear subframe, replacing mounts???

I was wondering if I should change the front and rear subframe mounts. I don't know much about them though, do the use the same rubber bushes as the top engine mounts? Are they hard to replace? And how do I know if I should replace them. I think my front ones might need replacing cos everytime I back off at high or low speeds, there is a dull clunk from the engine, and I have just replaced all the engine mounts.

Six or seven weeks ago, the statesman started to develop a persistant whistle...

Check your top right engine mount (radiator side)
Where it has the two heater pipes going into.
Drove my wife susie absolutely insane.
Take this out... theres 4 bolts with 1/2 inch nuts and heads...
Inspect for corroded metal (mine was ****** rooted, and also split the bracket bit too- that was clunking on each piece when i decelerated then accelerated again..
Took it down to the guys at the local ultratune.

Give that a shot... fixed my source in seconds. :)

(Edit... nar i didnt take it to ultratune... its that ****** annoying ad where he says all the "S"'s and whistles between his teeth when he says them) :)

im not really worried about the clunking sound. Im pretty sure it's not the engine mounts, but do ya reckon it would be worth the trouble getting new subframe mounts? will it make cornering easier or my ride smoother, and what other mounts could I replace?
