Hey, just wanted to confirm the wiring for a standard (white needle) clubman tacho when run with a electronic ignition setup not dizzy, if it changes at all..... Cheers |

There were two styles of tach fitted to the Clubman. The early one (RVI) the white wire loops in and then out of the tacho then on to the =ve of the coil. The Later one has a seperate wire from the points back to the Tacho (RVC). So which one do you have. Have a look how many wire connected to the coil - 2 = RVI, 3 = RVC. Next, what sort, brand and any other details might you have on the electronic ignition system do you have? |

sorry about late reply. So, I have a mini-sparc 2120 electronic ignition kit. Coming off the coil I have -> positive - 1x red wire to the Amplifier module 1 x white to ignition negative - 1 x green to amplifier module 1 x white/black to gauges So, as far as I can tell, for the tacho to work I need power in, power out, and a sensing line ? What I haven't been able to decifier is what each point represents on the back of the tacho, as I've never actually had it hooked up/working since I bought this mini ( '74 clubman ) view of back of tacho - http://www.mynetimages.com/viewimage/cb28f8ccd8 |

I am not familiar with that type of electronic ignition, so I would suggest exersising some caution here. It appears that your tacho is an RVC type. One of the screws on the back is also an electrical connection to via the printed circuit. Should be straight forward to connect the tacho in the same way as per original. You should mount it all up in an original frame for the 3 dial set and use a 3 dial printed circuit. There is a black lead that screws on the back of the centre dial for an earth and plugs in to the flat blade connector on the tacho and the bullet connector connects to the points. |

Any known ways of testing the tacho out of the car or not connected to dash ? |
