Hey All,

I'm planning on painting my Clubbie bright-ish green (probably a shade close to java green like this one)..
http://www.miniregister.com/images/200608001.jpg
and i want to have a white / cream roof and some racing stripes...

So I'm looking for peoples opinion on some ideas...

- Should I use a white or more of a cream color for the roof and stripes?
- Should the stripes go down the back/boot or just be on the bonnet?

- How do people feel about metallic colors on minis? i had an idea to add metallic flecks to the green?

- Finally.. since i'm kinda poor and cant afford to buy or recrome flash new bumpers / hinges / etc right away... how do you think it would look if i cleaned up the poxy bumpers/hinges i have on there now and paint them white like the roof?

Go nuts... i wont be offended...

I think clubbies look funny with white roofs and stripes

sometimes you see one with a black or dark silver roof and stripes, and they look mean, but white is just wrong.

Not too keen on that shade of green. I am partial to the darker metallic one though. It can be pretty good if you get the right shade.

Something "like" this..

Imagine it with a pearl white roof and a southern cross in the green colour on the roof. Or just the green roof with pearl white stars for the southern cross (cheaper). Nice

I think it will look cluttered with a white roof and stripes. I'd try green paint but with 1275GT-style side stripes. They needn't say 1275GT; you could get a signwriter to cut out 'MINI', or whatever. Then match the colour of the bumpers and the stripe. Grey would look quite neat, esp. if you do the grille the same colour, or possibly green & grey.

I think by the 70's the fashion of having a two tone paint job had mostly dissapeared so I reckon thats why clubmans can look a little odd with a white roof.

This clubby I thought looked really good with the stripes running right over the car.

Image

I also like the Clubman GT stripes that run accross the bonnet then down the sides.

I'd be looking at photos of racing clubmans in the 70's to get some ideas.

I reckon that if is something like a micro metallic, then its all good. Nothing too bold.
I'm sure that if you post a pick of your mini, as is, and ask nicely, then maybe someone could photoshop it for you. I've seen it done on here before.
But bare in mind, its not a true representation, but will give you a good idea.
My only other thought is that "to me", most metallics look better on darker colours.

If you went for that green, white or grey stripes going over the car (no white roof or metallic) would look good. If you have to go cheap with the bumpers paint them body colour till you get them chromed.
With a darker green add metallic and grey/silver metallic stripes or pale
green or black metallic stripes. Paint the bumpers body colour or if you the choose pale green or black stripes,
paint the bumpers metallic silver.
I can see it....would look fantastic!

Thanks for the input... I'm still undecided... it seems alot of people are against my green/white roof and stripes idea...

If i do go with the green i think i'll either go with:
Atomic Green (VE Commodore)
http://forum.streetcommodores.com.au/at ... 1263361927
Or
Kawasaki (Ninja) Green
http://image.sportrider.com/f/8761451/1 ... static.jpg

The Black or even Silver roof idea is starting to grow on me... I don't know about stripes all over tho... I might have to put my photo shop skills to the test and see if i can mock something up..

Thanks for all the ideas, keep them coming!

This colour looks suspiciously close to Hairy Lime!

I was thinking of respraying my clubby at the start of the year, before all my money disappeared.

Currently, it is a dark red with a white roof and two white bonnet stripes, and I think it actually looks pretty good. I took a photo and photoshopped the colours around a bit, and decided to leave it the colour it is.

However, I quite liked the baby blue and navy blue. The baby pink actually looks really good, but with the square front, driving lights and wheel arches it would probably look like I was having a gender crisis.

If I had a faster connection, I'd upload the pictures - maybe another time.

Well, alright:

My mini as it stands:

This is actually a very flattering photo - the paint job is quite poor.

Baby blue is always good

A dark blue to match out toyota ute

Yeah, pink looks suprisingly good.

AS I said, after doing these I realised that I actually like the red most.

Red ones go faster. I don't like 2 tone, unless it's a proper Cooper.8)
