I removed my speedo to check if the wobble it has is the speedo or the cable.

The speedo is smooth when run with a drill so I assume it must be either the cable or the gear drive in the gearbox.

I have removed the inner cable and greased it but the needle still has the wobbles (it's slightly better)

The cable appeared undamaged to me.

Could the problem be the outer cable or is it more likely to be the actual drive in the gearbox?

Cheers

Phill

Could be that the speedo inner cable is a whisker too long. You should be able to whip it out and grind about 0.5mm off it.

Thanks, I'll give that a go. I assume you mean off the gearbox end of the cable?
