Can anyone out there suggest how to soften old donuts for the rear of 850's.

I think the only real cure for old hard donuts is find some new/newer ones.
But all the Oz S/H ones are at least 32 years old now... :?
Me? I use hydrolastic, it's as good as new (and still 1970 original, pipes and all) 8)

Thanks for your suggestion, just thought there may have been a brew out there, eg. place donuts in bucket of roo poo and add 2 asprin :lol: :lol: ,

I have heard (in olden days) of people drilling holes in them to lower their spring rate... :P

Thats what id be doing, and weight saving too. You can get it lower too, so youll end up hitting things.

Can someone confirm, panelvans had stiffer rear donuts and if so how do you tell a normal one from a stiff one?

I'm pretty sure that the new ones in the 1990's era were a softer compound to suit the low profile tyres on the 13 inch wheels.

Donut was the same, the trumpet was a little longer for a Van.

Hi
The donuts in the panel vans are the same as an mini but the rear trumpet is bigger in dia where they make contact with the rubber, not are they only bigger in dia. but they are flat making the rear a lot harder.

Once you loose the taper off the rubber it will become a lot stiffer, there are some new ones on the market made by the original company and the ride is very good, good for race cars running radial tyres. :lol:
