Post subject: | Extractors / Exhaust Help |
Great to chat with some guys out at Hay over the weekend. Really got me fired up about getting my car back together. Was hoping to bug everyone / anyone about some extractor advice. I should be getting my engine back from the builders this week and want to organise a new set of extractors and exhaust. The 1275 will come back with 040" flat top pistons, larger valves, cleaned ports, RE13 cam and a belt drive. Was thinking of running a single RC40 or hotdog. Can anyone suggest what size/style LCB would run best? Should I get them jet-hot treated? It only a weekend car, 80% street 20% track. Thanks in advance! Shane |

Hi Shane & welcome to ausmini. I would suggest a set of UK made Maniflow LCB extractors for your car or a set of Aussie made Brownrigs if you want the best.(Brownrigs are more suited to race cars tho) Alloy coating works well and seems to keep them cool, well worth spending the extra money. A single box RC40 will will work well with the Maniflows too. Cheers David. |

If you buy the standard bore Maniflow LCB, please check the 3 flanges are all flat and in alignment before you fit it. I've not seen a flat set yet. I bolt them onto an old head (no gasket) off the car before fitting, and go round em with a .002" feeler gauge. If it goes in, the flange(s) get ground and/or filed until it doesn't. |

Are the chinese maniflow copies still available? If so, who stocks them? |

I don't know if they chinese no-name LCBs deserve the term maniflow copies. They have the large port cast steel ends which are quite nice instead of the usual squared pipe jammed in to the steel flange, and actually manage to maintain a seal around the center exhaust port as well.... These "maniflow copies" would have to prove they were equal to or inferior to the genuine maniflows to deserve the moniker, but I actually think they are superior... ![]() ![]() |

First set came from Minisport SA @ about $180 in 2005 Second set came from Northern Mini Spares in 2008 for about $220 I know they come in and out of stock however. Skender wandered over to Northern last year to find a set and walked out with a set of Maniflows because they didn't have any left... |

That set does look good and Maniflows are also very good, however for most street use Perrys are a bit hard to walk past... |

my stainless LCB's are meant to be standard diameter but the 2-1 pipe is 45mm internal diameter & 48mm outside diameter. Is this correct? & what exhausts are made to suit this size? |
