My knowledge of the 1100s is that its a sports edition of the 1100 and its has the A series 1275 BMC engine. But what about later Morris cars in particular the Morris 1500, does this car have an A series that will fit into a mini? |

i think once you start looking at the bigger stock cc engine's, the weight of the engine out... er.. weighs the benefits of the cc's.... the word anchor comes to mind... |

I ask because there seems to be alot of the Morris 1300+ cars for sale cheap lately, and alot of people looking for mini engines. Didn't think they might be too big! |

Morris 1100 = 1098cc A-series with a 3 syncro/ 4 speed manual gearbox. Morris 1100S = 1275cc A-series with a 3 syncro/ 4 speed manual gearbox. Morris 1300 = 1275cc A-series with a 4 speed automatic. (no manual gearbox) Morris 1500 = 1500cc E-series with a 4 speed manual gearbox (Optional 5 speed) The Morris 1100 and 1100S also were available with automatic gearboxes. |

The Morris 1300 auto (also 1100S auto) motor can be converted to fit on a manual box. Takes some machining and a custom spacer for the oil pump. PM me if you find one, and I'll convert it for you.. ![]() I'm running one now, 1360cc. Goes real hard.... ![]() |

So what real difference is there in the block and crank between an 1100S and a 1300? None I presume. |

A 1500 Maxi engine will fit into a mini. It is a huge lump but lines up with all the right mounting holes. Why you would do it is beyond me but choose your poison...lol Rob Forsyth Miniot!! |

Only differences in the auto blocks vs a 1100S manual are- oil pump hole is 1/4" deeper, no oil feed in block from pump to banjo bolt, 2 holes drilled in relief valve seat, no dipstick hole. On an automatic, the oil feed was external from BIG pump to the trans and its filter, then back UP the banjo pipe and into the block. ![]() |

There was a story going around a when the cars were new and I was youg that the 1500 went as fast as the 1750 so they made the ports smaller to slow it down. BTW the 1500 was put in the Marina as well. They both made good boat anchors. |

OTOH, the Kiwis were smarter- their Marinas got the 1275 A series. Of course now many have been plundered and their hearts shipped to Oz and elsewhere.. ![]() |

i had never seen a 1275 marina over there but have seen plenty of 1750's and have used the twin carbs off the TC model... the carb linkages were wider than the mini ones (carbs sit further appart) |
