I have one of these, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT Just wondering if anyone had any idea how the hoses inside the unit are directed. If only I took note before I pulled it apart. ![]() |

Thanks Mitch, I could be down south this weekend. PM your number if you like and I may drop in. Mr Morris, a while ago I cut away the hoses from the fittings because everything was seized and I've forgotten where they go. I've never used it so I'm not familiar with it's operation, so I'm seeking some sort of diagram showing where the hoses connect. Cheers. |

I hope you kept an eye on the little valve bits as you pulled it apart? |

Thanks Morris, the pics give me a fair idea of what's going on. How long should the hoses be that go to the car? |

The hoses that go to the car do not need to be that long on a Mini but they need to be a bit longer on other cars like the 1100. 2 or 3 metres should do it. It is very high pressure hose. I think it is similar to Parker Parflex but I am not 100% sure. |

Just measured my one and the hoses are 2 meters give or take a little. Is yours a Churchill or an Austaloy pump? |

It's an Austaloy pump. I got it given to me when I retrieved a dead clubman out of a farmers dam. ![]() |

Good work! It should have the same fittings as mine. I did a little cheat on my one, on the back panel where there are two holes for the hoses to come out, I filed the holes so that the nut on the end of the hose would fit through the panel. A new grommet hides the hexagonal hole. The vacuum pump need to be filled with oil through the hole in the top of the pump (then the pump is at the top of the stroke) the oil is what makes the pump seal. |

A few years ago, I had some instruction plates remade for the top of Churchill pumps. I am thinking of getting more done, anyone interested? Regards Al |

Regards Al Yes, I am very interested. I don't know if the Austaloy pump has the same instruction plate as the Churchill pump. (help 850man do you know the answer?) But I would be willing to take one as my pump does not have one at all. ![]() |

Has anyone considered putting swivel fittings on the end of the hoses? I find on some cars (mini's aren't to bad) that screwing the connector onto the car is quite awkward when the hose is fighting you. I can't remember the name of it now, but some austin, maybe a maxi? connects through a 2x4 inch hole in the boot. PITA. I'll have a look at the hydro pumps we have at work next week as they are 2 different designs and i will compare the instruction plates and see if they have a brand name. |
