Post subject: | 90° speedo drive angle box so I can fit RE7 manifold |
I want to fit a Russell Engineering RE7 manifold, an HS6 and Ramflo filter to my roundnose with the 1412 in it. I can get the carby to clear the body, but the filter case fouls the centre speedo cable big time. No, I am not going to run a road car with no filter... or speedo. ![]() I seem to recall a thread here that spoke of these 90° speedo drive boxes (a Land Rover part??) but cannot find it. Methinks one would solve my problem if it's not a bleedin' fortune. |

It's the one thats mounted to the back of the speedos. It's not expensive if you need the part to get the job done. ![]() Do you have English-specific wreckers over there? Surely someone could point you in the direction of a secondhand one. |

I picked up this Smiths right angle drive on eBay some time ago. I'm pretty sure it's the Mini speedo thread but would have to check. I won't be able to get to it for a few days. Doc - you are welcome to try it and send it back if it doesn't work out. The one's on eBay usually go for around GBP 50 (that's what I paid). ![]() |

P6 Rovers with the strip speedo also have the 90 degree fitting which I reckon will have the right threads for a Mini speedo. The gearbox driveswill be too big. |

Kev, I'm running a HS6 on a Russell inlet with a Ramflow filter and it clears the speedo cable fine. Maybe it's because I machined the manifold to point the carb up a bit? I just can't get full choke operation because the jet will hit the body on full choke |

http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=929 That one is a 1:1 ratio. Many of the angle drives are not. |
