Would love to own a genuine Cooper S, just to be able to say "I had one of those"

... and then sell it & with the money make one of those crazy ultra light turbo bike engined rockets with the money

Mk II Austin Cooper S ...... but I'd really like a Broadspeed ... took one for a test drive in Melbourne in 1972 and was going to buy it but then changed my mind ! How foolish am I.

I'd go a 970 Cooper S, rev em to 10,000 rpm, yum yum.

Okay, my mistake. I meant the 970 S. But still, how rare is the 1071?

I like your location, 2 S's

Not as rare as a 970 lol.. 970S was really just a circuit racing homologation special.

I'd have to say a 997 Cooper for historical value, probably a Morris in Surf Blue, or perhaps the Foley Broadspeed GT.

Yes, point taken. I have seen a 1071, but not a 970

This particular 1071 was used for carting around coffins for years, and then sold for.... wait for it.... 500 bucks. The current owner has replaced the rear of the back seat, and now she's a bewdy!

Bastard.... 500 Bucks.

Ahh the grass is ALWAYS greener.

I've got my Mark II S, but miss the simplicity and subtlety of my '63 997 Cooper.
Sliding windows, huge door bins, Shadow Blue and Nurburg White, blue interior.

That Shadow Blue was the prettiest colour IMHO that BMC ever made.

Why, why, oh GOD why did I part with it....sniffle...

(there were those 7" discs however....)
