All the round motors (1 speed and 2) used from 1969 on have self park. However many no longer do, because the steel slip rings have rusted away. New slip rings are available though.

I think I've seen them on a Pommy web site - wondered at the time if they would fit a non parking wiper to convert it but I think something told me it wouldn't |

Next time i get a cactus one apart I will put a dob of SBA45 silver solder (45% silver) on the end of the worn beryllium copper `brushes'. Silver is a damned fine conductor, and also this solder is pretty hard stuff. I have successfully built up selector forks with it. |

The last one I rebuilt I soft soldered a piece of brazing rod on to. Still going OK. The one before that I put a micro switch on to. It get a lot of use and have never missed a beat. No good on a restoration though..... |

Nope, UK motors use a park switch, round Oz ones use contact fingers. I would not call them brushes but I guess they do the same. If you mean the armature brushes on that page, nooo we are not talking about those. |
