take fuel out of tank, take fuel hose off, undo the strap and pull tank out. IF it dosnt come out there maybe a tank bleed plug in the bottom going through the boot. You may have to get under the car and unscrew it. Then take the light out too.

Now take a hammer with a spade shaped head on it and tap away in side the boot, holding something solid on the outside of the car against the dent. Try to get it out as good as you can but dont hit it out to far. Then apply some bog.

according to the red mini folder,
under DIY body panel straightening,
pack the surrounding area with a great wad of asbestos
(pure form if you can get your hands on it)
and heat up the metal wacking it back in shape

yeh ben its actually a strap that goes around the whole tank vertically
if thats just the section you can see (which does look like a bracket)

I dont think removing the dint will help... clubbies always leak

I am with 13secmini though. But use a hard rubber hammer one side and a rubber dolly the other if you can. Saves the paintwork.

i tried to syphon mine, but i got petrol in my mouth, so instead i replaced the outliet pipe with a pipe i had laying around, real quick, spilled a little petrol.....but oh well.....better than tasting it , and just let it drain into a jerry can. thats how i did it. of course the boot was empty....

from what i understand... your best bet would be a slide hammer.... drill a hole into the panel, in the centre of the dint, then you screw then end of the hammer in....
then, gently slide the hamer back and forth until the dint pops out... weld the hole over, bog it up and then respray

My Mini clubman has the same problem. I have a dint in the same place. I just tapped it out with a panel beaters hammer and filled it with bog. No one will notice when it is painted. :D
