So I just finished removing all the original carpet that was glue into my mini... how do I go about removing all the old glue? ... I want to try to remove it so I can then prime and paint over the original paint, without having to take the inside back to metal.

suggestions? can i use something like acetone ? or will that eat away at the paint as well?

3M make a great solvent remover in an aerosol can.

Eucalyptus oil and turpentine also turn it back into sticky gum (after a good soaking with a sopping rag)
