Hi finally got motivated into doing the rest of my bodywork and sorting out the rest in preperation for the run to the finish(only took 3 years so far)just wondering if the morris 1100 engine is interchangable with a mini engine as my father has a good one in his shed that i can "borrow" and i really don't know if they are the same or not  hopefully someone can tell me Thanks

A Morris 1100 engine is basically the same as a Mini 1098 (1100) engine. The 1100 has engine mounts on the plate behind the timing cover. But the mounts are easily removed or the plate changed.

However the gearbox is a bit different. There is a rubber sandwich between the remote and gearbox on a Morris 1100. The diff casing , or tail part of the gearbox where the remote bolts on, is different to a Mini. You can probably use the 1100 remote shift and sandwich plate in your Mini.

The diff ratio is also normally lower than a Mini (3.76 or 4.1). So you may be running silly revs at 100km/h.

Cheers,
