I have seen some car with a rubber strip along the back channel of the engine bay, where the bonnet sits. Is this a factory thing? What was the purpose? Does it cause rust? Is it available or do you just buy it from a rubber shop? What size is it? Cheers |

It is a standard factory item: http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1372.htm or get your own from Clark Rubber. |

There was two different types, one for the roundie and one for the clubbie style. |

Cuts noise, vibration, water splashback, and in the case of most rovers: the rust. ![]() |

It stops oil from getting sucked from the engine bay onto the windscreen. ![]() |

The roundies have the square section rubber but the clubman has the h shaped one that fits on the front lip of the gutter. |

$3.29 well spent. It cut down a shocking vibration that only happened at idle. |
