ive been having dramas with my brakes lately, every time i brake i hear a creaking/ scratching noise coming from the front.. i have 8.4 disc brakes installed and the pads are only half worn. i thought they might be glazed up so i thought id take them off, de-glaze them and put them back but still the same drama.. ive checked to make sure nothing is touching the rotors during brake application and everything is clear.. i really gotta sort it out cause especially under heavy brake it is really loud.. has anyone had this problem? and if so how did u fix it? |

My missus had a similar problem with the brakes on her Lancer. I pulled them all apart, sprayed disc brake cleaner on the pads / rotors and gave them a wipe with a clean rag. It stopped the squeaking on her car. I think it had something in the pads that I was able to wipe off. |

It could be the pads rubbing on the Pistons due to minute movement. We used to use a PBR glue to prevent this. Cant remember what it was called though. |

I have had really strong creaking noises come from worn drive flanges on the disc brakes. It sounds pretty heavy. Like metal creaking/stretching/moving. |

You haven't got a stone caught between the pad backing plate and the rotor? Best take the pads out to check. |

i pulled them apart alittle while ago for the same problem and couldnt find anything stuck.. i cleaned them with brake cleaner and de-glazed pads and the rotors then put them back.. noise was gone for about 20 mins then came back. Then the noise stoped by itself for months and has now only come back. im wondering whether it could be minute movement but why would it stop for a while then come back at random? and samething with the drive flange? i hope it isnt a drive flange worn out though, but if it is besides replacement is there any tricks that can be used that can keep it quiet? |

Put new pads in it. Sometimes they just do this without aparent cause (although there always is one but not easily found). A set of pads are only about $25 or so. |
