Gday Ausmini!
When I turn off my clubman, he keeps on firing for a few moments after I turn and remove the key. I read this wasnt good news, but I cant find the thread.

Any help appreciated!

AUsmini is amazing! 8)

can mean a few things... crap fuel, idling too fast, too hot plugs, buildup of crap in the combustion chambers making hotspots

if it's going to run on, when you switch off, keep your hoot on the brake and stall the motor

mine does this too.

I think its a result of the tune it has.

I just let the clutch out if there's someone around if not I just let it run on and have a chuckle.

From what I can gather its not always a bad thing.

mine does it on standard unleaded. no issue with high-octane, Ultimate, Mobil 8000 etc.

Mine did it on normal ULP, put in 98 octane fuel and fixed it instantly :D

I was told "running on" after ignition turned off is bad news, like any pre-ignition. Can cause engine damage.

Also caused by over advanced ignition timing & not enough RON in the tank.

Same here.
And as AEG said advanced timing will do it.
And carbon build up from running a rich mixture for a while.

In an iron headed Mini it just means the C/R is about right in your performance engine.
Yes, I am serious... 8)

Back in the 60's and 70's there was a group of us that had brand new Cooper S's and they ran on even when they were new, some times worse than others, we just used to stall them when it occured. Was pretty common.

My wife daily like to run on unless its 98 otherwise just stalls it with the clutch and gets better fuel
