Hey guys.

Would it be possible to make one of these with the following:

-Vacumn gauge with hose
-Doovawaky....
.... Device which covers the throat of the carby, sealing it of, with two holes. One with a certain size, allowing the carb to suck some air through for it to feed on, the other tapped out to suit the hose with the guage.

I realise thats probably how they work anyway, but never actually seen one up close. Interested as if that would work, I could make one.

I found this in an old magazine. I didn't test it myself yet, but from the write up in the magazine it works almost perfect. Critical is that the size of the holes in the covers, which go on the carbs, are exactely the same size. And the hoses should be long enough to not suck water nto the engine.



I'm certainly giving that a go once my twin carbs are ready

I borrowed one of these (UniSyn) from a mate and found it excellent, however, I've always used plastic the tube in the ear method.

I did a test where I balanced by ear with a tube and then checked with the Uni-syn and the tube method was spot on.

I always used the hose in the ear but I always lost the hose and then I saw a UniSyn in a spare parts store so I grabbed it. At the time they were only about $25.
I used to play with Holdens with triple carbs.

what`s wrong with a piece of hose & your own ear???

Actually the only drawback was that I had to remove the ramflow baseplates because the bolts interfered with the seal but I've been told you can make up a spacer with a piece of PVC pipe.

The tube in the ear method does tend to mess with your mind after a while.

Morris 1100, i borrow one the same brand as that from a mate that lives behind me and find it a very good tool, i also do the plastic hose trick as well just to see if i'm close or not. How often would you go over your carbies as i find mine seem to hold their tune fairly well, i probably done them 12 - 15 months ago.

I just set them and forget them. They don't move unless something goes wrong.

Someone gave me a uni syn to balance my twin carbs but I have never really figured it out. Does anyone have some clues for me on the process of using it please. Other wise I use a plastic hose. Thanks
