Post subject: | Spin-on Oil Filter Kit |
My car has the original oil filter arrangement fitted and I wanted to go to a standard spin-on. The problem is that my current filter attachement also has an electric sensor attached, I presume this is oil pressure? There is another sensor attached to the engine block near the oil return line. My car is currently fitted with both an oil pressure light and an oil pressure gauge. All the spin-on kits that I have looked at are missing the outlet to fit a sensor at the head of the oil filter. Does this mean that if I go to a spin-on kit I can either use the oil pressure light or the oil pressure gauge, but not both? |

The one on the filter is another light (not oil pressure) to tell you if the filter blocks (if it still works- many are busted). Not needed really, which is why spin-ons don't use one. The one near the oil pipe on the block is the oil pressure light, there will be an oil pipe or another sender there too, if you have a pressure gauge.. |
