personally, stay away from harlequins and the like!
I prefer a fine metallic, or solid colour! Leave all the effects for idiot cars owned by try hards!
Just my thoughts, and probably a few to follow! :D
What do you prefer? Thats the main question, because its your car.

stick to flat. looks so much nicer on a mini! Metallic mayyybee... but as for flake or transitional flip paints yeh leave it for modern cars which don't matter if they get raped.

Im pretty sure if you damage one panel with the wanky poo paint you really need to repaint the whole side if not the whole car to get it all to match and flip and whatever else that ricer paint does, go crazy and get it chromed

Pearlescent can look really good, especially on a Clubby.

I'm going to pain my current project in Ford Shockwave Mica. It's a blue metallic with some silver pearl in it. It doesn't look over the top IMO. It sort of transitions from a darker blue to a lighter blue.

I would show you pics but I've only painted my bonnet and I rubbed it back a lot after painting it anyways as it was just a test before the proper paint job which I'm going to do probably next week - hopefully!

ok thanks everyone, after talking to the painter and i really think after what you have said that its best to leave alone some of the pearls and stuff :) might just stick with a flat colour :)

Cheers jordy....

My van is white with a blue pearl over the top. From a distance you dont see it, it's not until you start to look at the car that you will see it and thats why i like it. looks traditional at a glance but holds a bit if interest if you look closer. and not really hard to repair

I have a preferance for vivid flat colors with a high gloss, here is what mine came up like, it's called 'Am Eye Blue'.
My first van was metallic, it was a very dark red like dried blood and has huge glitter in it like boat paint.

grew up with a bloke that did a clubby in very dark burgundy with black tinter added and red metallic in it. Looked stunning. Looked black in almost any light but direct sunlight it shon very sparkly red on the edges. Had black centred wheels. IMO the best modified clubman paint i have seen. Other than that stick with solid original looking colours. Home on the orange looks good as does that kermit green colour cant recall the name.
