Hi Guys,

Just trying to remember, are the pads on stepped drums different to those on standard drums?

I remember that something is bigger than the other, or is that Front pads are bigger as in wider than the rears?

Reason I ask is I have stepped drums pads here that I would like to use on one of my cars however it has the standard, non stepped ones..

Its one of the two, I just can't remember..

Any help to clear this up would be highly valued..

The front shoes, on a twin leading shoe set up, are wider then the rears shoes

On these the fronts are 1 1/2" and the rears 1 1/4".

Same shoes used regardless of straight or spaced drums are fitted.

Isan't a twin leading shoe set up always on the front if running drums?

Not if you have an 850 with single leading shoe front drums

Just thought I would check that you have the longer wheel studs to go with the stepped drums?

yep got all that. also have the locating screws that hold the drum onto the spindle however currently they are not budging.... 12hrs with inox, and wd40 to no effort.. someone has replaced them with alin key screws, and I have buckles chance of getting the drum off at the moment..

Got any bright ideas any1?

Lockie, undo the CV nut etc and then pull the drive flange out, you should be able to get to the back of the allen key headed bolts then. Hopefully the drive flange isn't rusted to the bearing race.

and if it is? I don't think its ever been off from the look of it..

What am I going to have to replace?

Can you get Allen Impact-drivers?
you could drill the head off..anyone know what size would be good

Most Impact Drivers are actually 1/2" Drive Socket with an adaptor for the Phillips and Screw Driver bits. So you can fit an Impact type 1/2"Drive Impact Hex key to it. Doubt you'd drill them as most 'Cap' Head screws are Grade 10 or better tensile, very hard. Maybe grind them

You can get Allen head impact drivers.

You can always make an Allen socket with an Allen key and a socket.
Get an Allen key and cut about an inch off the end of it with an angle grinder. Whack the cut off bit into the right sized socket and presto you have an Allen drive socket.
