Depending on Exactly what studs / bolts you have, anything from 40 to 50 ft/lbs.

Bolts and early standard studs 40 ft/lbs
Cooper S Studs & Nuts 42 ftlbs (Studs ID'd by dimple in the centre of the stud and 8s on the flts of the nuts)
Late CAM type Studs and Nuts 50 ft/lbs (studs have a taper on top and nuts are flanged)

If you have an Oz 1098 with the bolts I would change them for studs & nuts. These bolts are old and brittle now, tend to break at top of block. Lots of people here (including me) have broken 1 or 2.

The threads that do the work on the bolts are coarse.
The threads that do the work on the studs are fine.
This means that with the same torque the stud will provide much more clamping force, so it should have all the same (preferably studs).
I replaced my bolts with studs, they looked fine but were causing head gasket problems for me.
