As the subject says, where abouts does the temp sender go? Also, what colour wire goes to it? |

The temp sender connects directly to the back of your temperature gauge (if you have a early instrument cluster) with 10 volts via a regulator connecting to the other terminal on the gauge. If you have a clubman it goes to the instrument panel plug at the back of the gauge cluster and onto the flexible PCB. Green/Blue is the colour of the roundnose wires connecting the gauge to the sender. I have no idea what colour the clubman type is. |

The temp sender screws into a hole in the cylinder head below the thermostat housing, just above the engine number pad. If your cylinder head does not have this hole then the sender was fitted into a special thermostat housing made for the job. You can still buy them new, Aust castings make them, available from Bursons. Heres a pic of an old one I use when I am painting my engines... ![]() |
