************over 30 years is not a problem really as the car only has to confirm with the ADRS that apply to the year of manufacture so check with your state rego authority about what they require for the year model, if pre 71 no ADRs apply just normal safety inspection and pre 88 model cars are not required to have a compliance plate for rego as long as you have vehicle import approval

I got some quotes in 2005 to ship a car from Sth Africa. Can't find them now though.

There was a company named "Aussie Export" up Newcastle way who were bringing in Sth African market Fairmont GT's (Falcon GT's) and Chevelles (Monaros). I don't know if they are still around.

I got a contact in south africa to source the car
and get it sent over so that is not the issue

its more costs to compliance and stuff like that
