Hi all,

I've replaced my master and reconditioned the brake limiting valve, and just started testing the brakes before I take it out on the road.

Now, ever since I got the car it pulled slightly to the right when braking hard - I always thought it was an adjustment issue, but after playing around with just about everything it still does the same thing - and I've noticed that on our dirt driveway the front right wheel will lock up before the left. I'd suspected this might have been happeneing, becasue while bleeding the right wheel bled much easier than the left.

So, I was about to detach the rubber hose from the left backing plate, when I realised there was a lot of mud caked on it - but not on the right wheel. I guess this means that something's been leaking for a while now, but not on the inside of the drum (I've taken the drums off multiple times).

I've cleaned off all the mud now and I'm waiting for it to dry before I do anymore, but I was wondering if there was any common problem here. It might not even be brake fluid. I was going to bleed the rubber hose first to see if that was the problem, and then just move on until I've found the issue.

BTW, changing the master cylinder and reconditioning the valve has done wonders to the brakes - I'm not sure if it's the split bore mc that does it or just the new components, but it has made a big difference.

those flexable hoses can block, swell up inside and constrict like having cholestoral in your braking system. Especially the older hoses. Try not to bend them to a kink, and replace them they arent that expensive, but are a pain to replace.

Try getting a helper to push the brake pedal while you watch the hose. Itll probably swell. Or just replace both and have a whole new braking system.
