Why don't you just measure the bore with a vernier Steve |

Is that #2 in a diamond? It sounds very much it's still on standard size. |

I Agree with Gt Mowog here. Also it is definitely a 1275 going by the engine number you gave us. If it has Mowog pistons it is very likely it is still a Virgin. I have never come across a rebuilt engine with original Mowog brand pisons. Any machine shop will measure it for you and tell you what size pistons you will need to get. "If it needs reboring ". Good Find I recon. |

It's not a Cooper S block with that engine number, it's a Morris 1100S. It's easy to drill them for the extra 2 studs (or S 1 stud + 1 bolt)- both mine have been done. |

If there are no +020 or +040 etc markings, the bore is still standard 1275 (70.6mm). The head is `probably' off either a Morris 1100S or a Mk2 S. Measure the inlet valves- Morris 1100S are 1.3", Cooper S are 1.401". If it's a Mk2 S head, it `should' have 12G1805 stamped in small letters next to the thermostat housing. |
