I just installed the lamps in my car. I have a relay with two switch terminals, although looking online at wiring diagrams i need two relays, one for the low beam and one for high. Can someone help me with a basic idea of what goes where. What numbers go to what wires. Do i need two relays. I did a search for wiring diagrams but still confused. I have already wired relay for the horn and some spotties, this headlight setup is brainstumping me. [EDIT] also on the stalk, to dip the high beams you can push it forward, my wiring only supports this, to get it working so that when i pull back on the stalk it highbeams can i just wire it over to the other side of the base. I would like to be able to temporarily highbeam and let go and its back to lowbeam. Normally the current will run through your headlamp switch (whether it's an actual switch or the stalk), through the lights and then to ground. Even with the stock headlights this runs too much current through the switch, and even just wiring in relays can make a big difference to the brightness. If you don't want to drastically change the wiring, Convertable Mini has written a good how-to: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11529 It might also be a good idea, though, to replace the wires to and from the headlights (from the relay to the lights, and from the lights to ground). I haven't done this, but I imagine it would make a big difference too. If your new lights have a higher power rating than the old ones, then I strongly suggest you do this. |

done, but instead of earthing to the mounting screw, i earthed to the earth lead of the wiring to the light, this allowed my to splice into the three wires, and then run a power lead to the fuse box. I used a relay per circuit, so did use two, one for high and one for low. Was all good once i found the three wires in question and deciding where to locate the relays. |
