Just recently swapped the 998 for an 1100. The 1100 has some crudely drilled holes in the clutch housing but no cover/breather/filter thing on it. I noticed a slight bit of oil coming from it though (could be a bad thing, maybe the crank seal has stiffened as this motor has been sitting in the garage for a couple of years). My question is, what is the purpose of this breather pipe thing and will there be any problems with not mounting anything on it and just leaving the holes as is, open to the environment?

Thanks
